The Datsusara Combat Gi is the worlds first 100% Hemp Gi made for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (we have been making Hemp BJJ gis since 2008.) Due to the properties of hemp the gi naturally fights microbes like staph and other nasties, it breathes well, it's stronger than cotton and environmentally friendly too. Great for rolling in any weather and so comfortable you could wear them as pajamas on off days. Hemp is ideal for making martial arts gear.
Important notes:
We suggest you machine wash and dry your hemp gi a few times (cold water for minimum shrinkage and hot for maximum) before use to prevent shedding of the natural 100% hemp material.
Natural white gis can vary slightly in color shade from batch to batch. We do not bleach the fabric on these as it can break down the natural properties of the fabric.
Choose size carefully, considering up to 3% shrinkage in hot water. We can do exchanges but the gi must be in new condition with tags intact. We do not offer split sizes at this time.

Care
Bag Care: You will likely never need to wash your Datsusara bag as hemp stays naturally clean due to it's antimicrobial and breathing properties. In case you do we recommend you only hand wash in cold water (cold water prevents material shrinkage) and line dry. It is possible to machine wash the bags but it's tricky and we cannot warranty against damage from machine washing. As for the "Nasty bags" (which are synthetic) we recommend washing them however you like but line dry.
Apparel Care: For apparel you can wash however you want. But don't use any bleach as it weakens the hemp, and do keep in mind the hotter the water and dryer setting the more things will shrink.
For new gis we strongly recommend machine washing at least 2-3 times to prevent shedding of the material which occurs naturally with our 100% hemp gis.
Shipping & Returns
Your order will ship within 24 hours (36 hours for international) Monday-Friday excluding holidays and pre-orders (which ship by the date mentioned on the product's page). A tracking number will be sent to your email once the order ships.
North America & Canada US shipments range from 2-7 days of transit time between express and economy shipping. For Canada expect a few days to a few weeks.
Overseas shipments:
For International orders express options range from around 7-10 days and average around 3 weeks with economy. Also please understand that customs in your country may charge import fees (although we value our shipments at a fraction of their retail cost) and delay the shipment at their discretion. Hence delivery times are estimates and while we can't guarantee a delivery date 99.9% of packages reach their destination.
*We only ship to Hong Kong, Vietnam and Ukraine by special request due to frequent fraudulent orders from these countries.
Warranty
Datsusara provides a 3 year warranty on bags and a 1 year warranty on fightwear or apparel against faulty manufacturing. If your item breaks due to a fault in manufacturing while under warranty we will repair or replace it free of charge. Please do remember this does not cover natural wear and tear as any natural fiber will wear over time, faster if you are rough on your gear. Datsusara reserves the right to refuse any warranty claim that it deems to be the consumers fault due to misuse, such as loading up bags with C4 or practicing Jiu Jitsu with badgers. That being said at our discretion we may offer you our wear and tear discount which starts at 30% for year 1, 20% for year two and 10% for year 3.§
Exchanges & Returns: We accept most products in their original, odor-free, unused or unworn condition (with any tags) for up to 30 days from the date of shipment, exceptions are t-shirts, rash guards and underwear (which cannot be returned for sanitary reasons).
You may either receive store credit or a refund, less all shipping costs and a $1 restock fee per item (please understand that we are a small company and it would hurt us greatly if we had to pay for shipping expenses and restocking costs on non defective returns).

Customers praised this hemp-based martial arts uniform for being "extremely durable" and "super comfortable," with many noting it "gets softer with each wash." The breathable fabric resists odors well. However, some customers experienced inconsistent sizing and more shrinkage than expected, particularly with cold washing. A few noted the fit runs baggy, especially in sleeves and pants.
I’ve owned many different Gis and even all the various GB gis, but my Datsusara is by far superior in comfort/fit/breathability/durability.
The first thing I will say is that the Datsusara Gi that I recently purchased has unmatched breathability, allowing me to roll with unparalleled comfort. The fabric's flexibility surpassed anything I've ever experienced, even rivaling the freedom of movement offered by no gi attire. It is truly a revelation in the world of Jiu-Jitsu apparel.
Eager to put its durability to the test, I am confident that this Gi will surpass all expectations. If it proves to be as resilient as it feels, I have unequivocally discovered my go-to brand for Gi's moving forward.
Additionally, the attention to detail showcased through the embroidery is truly commendable. The intricate design adds an element of sophistication, elevating the overall aesthetic appeal of the Gi. However, if there is one minor suggestion for improvement, it would be to align the stitching on the knee area with the grey stitching on the shoulder patch, creating a visual symmetry and making the logo really pop out.
It seems very durable after first use and rolling. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality gi.

Very comfortable. I'm 5'7" 145lbs. I ordered A2 and it fits great especially after one cold wash. Happy to get rid of my plastic GI for something durable and naturally cleaner.

I wasn’t sure what to expect, but so far I like it. The unbleached fabric is very beautiful and soft but very thick. I read some reviews about the material being very rough or uncomfortable but that’s not true. The material is very soft in comparison to cotton gis and Bjj Gis. All of the other people that I work with commented on how soft the material was. The gi itself is actually very breathable, I go to a hot gymnasium in the summer and I was hot but more comfortable than I expected. I was sweating but I didn’t feel like I was showering in my gi. I’m very happy so far
Great to hear that, it is often hard to picture that it would be comfortable and breathable in hot weather, but the hemp is kind of amazing like that. Also, the only way it gets somewhat rough is if you line dry them, which I don't actually recommend necessarily. Machine wash and dry is just fine with these, and they'll still last for years and then they end up quite soft, which is nice as well. Enjoy. -Chris

The fit and feel is great, but the color is much more creamy/yellowy than I realized from the photos.
Don’t think I’ll be buying any other gi. The quality and fitment exceeds everything and I’ve bought hundreds of gis from every big brand.
Most comfortable GI ive ever worn. And it’s so sturdy, probably will last forever.

This is my favorite gi. It is hot, which makes you sweat, but easy to clean. I can't wait to get another one, you forget that youre wearing it!
I have 3 of the combat gis. 5’9” 205 and an A3 fits me. I’m a thicker guy and it allows me to move well. Super soft and the pants are super comfortable too. I wear them for training most nights and they’ve held up pretty decently. I usually dry mine on low heat and I’ve had no issues there with shrinkage.

Absolutely love these products
Im 6’5” / 235lbs (athletic). The A4 [top] was absolutely PERFECT. There is also extended fabric in the armpit area, which is awesome because other GIs tend to be tight in the armpit area. It is EXTREMELY comfortable. The pants are a tiny-bit shorter than I would like (im a 34-35” inseam). I imagine they will shrink a bit more than I want in the coming weeks. BUT, they are roomy (some say baggy) and I actually like the feeling. Its like wearing some really comfy pajama pants. My new favorite Gi, for sure! The fabric has a very nice sheen to it and the natural white coloring makes the GI look antique/old school. Love it.

Very comfortable. Seriously.. extremely comfortable.
Not sure of possible shrinkage if placed in dryer, so far I’ve only hung dried it to avoid such possibility.
Only thing is, if hung up for drying, doesn’t dry as fast as my other gi. But not a negative for me.
The fabric feels soft , yet strong. Strangely impressive feel.
Size is a great fit. I’m 5,10. And wear a size A3L. With other gi’s it was unfortunately common that the sleeves would be a bit short. But this gi’s sleeves fit great.
Other gi’s I’ve owned so far were a few gi’s from Isami and one from Origin.
Islam: was great for a beginner gi. But unfortunately I’ve gone through 3 of 4 so far. 3 are no longer serviceable due to rips and tears. (These gi’s I’ve worn from white to blue belt level..) (still keeping the remaining one just incase)
Origin: is honestly also an amazing gi. Had it for maybe half a year now. Did suffer slight shrinkage because I mistakenly placed it in the dryer. But only slight shrinkage thankfully. Very comfortable and light. And dries amazing fast if hung up. (This gi I’ve been wearing so far from Blue to my current Purple belt level)
Side note : The Datsusara gi was a present to myself after earning my Purple belt .
Both the Origin and Datsusara are my favorite gi’s
I train usually multiple session a per day, most of the days of the week.
So I’m consistently wearing both the Origin and Datsusara gi

I love this Gi
As recommended, I washed it three times before the first use. Some shedding still occurred, but the Gi was incredibly comfortable and accurate to size. I'm 5'10" and approximately 200 lb, and I bought an A2. I will repurchase it in the future.

Loving it so far. Very soft and breathes well. I will say the estimated shrinkage feels a little more than advertised. Mine shrunk down pretty noticeably. It went from what felt like baggy and slightly too large to me really hoping the sleeves don’t shrink anymore. For reference I am 5’8” and 165. Only washed on cool temp (one notch above cold) and dryer on low.
Love the materials but wish it wasn’t so baggy
