The Battlepack 28L is our more compact and versatile backpack option. Works great as a day pack for light travel or as a simple gym bag. Various internal and external pockets to keep things in order including a padded compartment which fits up to a 15" laptop.
Made with our signature hemp blend fabric which is naturally durable, breathable, and antimicrobial—safe for you and the environment.

Care
Bag Care: You will likely never need to wash your Datsusara bag as hemp stays naturally clean due to it's antimicrobial and breathing properties. In case you do we recommend you only hand wash in cold water (cold water prevents material shrinkage) and line dry. It is possible to machine wash the bags but it's tricky and we cannot warranty against damage from machine washing. As for the "Nasty bags" (which are synthetic) we recommend washing them however you like but line dry.
Apparel Care: For apparel you can wash however you want. But don't use any bleach as it weakens the hemp, and do keep in mind the hotter the water and dryer setting the more things will shrink.
For new gis we strongly recommend machine washing at least 2-3 times to prevent shedding of the material which occurs naturally with our 100% hemp gis.
Shipping & Returns
Your order will ship within 24 hours (36 hours for international) Monday-Friday excluding holidays and pre-orders (which ship by the date mentioned on the product's page). A tracking number will be sent to your email once the order ships.
North America & Canada US shipments range from 2-7 days of transit time between express and economy shipping. For Canada expect a few days to a few weeks.
Overseas shipments:
For International orders express options range from around 7-10 days and average around 3 weeks with economy. Also please understand that customs in your country may charge import fees (although we value our shipments at a fraction of their retail cost) and delay the shipment at their discretion. Hence delivery times are estimates and while we can't guarantee a delivery date 99.9% of packages reach their destination.
*We only ship to Hong Kong, Vietnam and Ukraine by special request due to frequent fraudulent orders from these countries.
Warranty
Datsusara provides a 3 year warranty on bags and a 1 year warranty on fightwear or apparel against faulty manufacturing. If your item breaks due to a fault in manufacturing while under warranty we will repair or replace it free of charge. Please do remember this does not cover natural wear and tear as any natural fiber will wear over time, faster if you are rough on your gear. Datsusara reserves the right to refuse any warranty claim that it deems to be the consumers fault due to misuse, such as loading up bags with C4 or practicing Jiu Jitsu with badgers. That being said at our discretion we may offer you our wear and tear discount which starts at 30% for year 1, 20% for year two and 10% for year 3.§
Exchanges & Returns: We accept most products in their original, odor-free, unused or unworn condition (with any tags) for up to 30 days from the date of shipment, exceptions are t-shirts, rash guards and underwear (which cannot be returned for sanitary reasons).
You may either receive store credit or a refund, less all shipping costs and a $1 restock fee per item (please understand that we are a small company and it would hurt us greatly if we had to pay for shipping expenses and restocking costs on non defective returns).

Extremely high quality bag. Very well thought out from a design perspective and exceptionally well constructed, sure to last a lifetime. I’ve had the battle pack pro since 2013 using it daily and for all trips and it’s still going strong, with all zips intact, no holes or signs of wear and tear other than the colour of the bag fading a bit. One of the best things I own. I expect the same from this. If only everything one bought these days was as well made!

Great company and a great backpack
Love this for biking around the city!
It's the perfect size I was looking for, with plenty of pockets and features I like. Also looks really cool. Same high quality like other Datsusara products I've gotten.
For me, the biggest downside is that my 13" laptop doesn't fit in as nicely as I hoped. The corners stick out just enough to get in the way of the zipper when zipping it up, so I worry that it will put too much strain on the zipper and cause it to break eventually. If the top of the bag was squared off more, instead of being a tapered rounded shape, it would fit perfectly.
I also did not realize the sternum strap is "permanent" (I was thinking it would allow me to detach it or adjust it somehow). Since it fits a little awkwardly across my chest, and I don't currently wear the pack for long periods of time, I don't use it and wrapped it around the shoulder straps. That works okay enough for me. I like how it's there if I need it though.
Best backpack, but wish they had a size between this and the next big one haha. This one a little too small the next one is a little too big

I purchased a 28 L bag, for a trip to Mexico. Even though it’s made of hemp I made it to Mexico and back with no hassles😁😁. Awesome quality bag.
I'm very pleased so far with the build quality and attention to detail in this bag. I'll be using this as my travel bag. Good pack for a laptop, clothes, water bottles, and plenty of extra pockets for accessories.
I got this backpack because my work and gym are within walking distance. I needed a bag to fit my laptop, headphones, workout clothes, and lunch while still fitting in a gym locker.
I love how it has its own slot for the laptop and the main compartment opens completely like a suit case. Plenty of room for everything including a gi.
The couple things I would change:
1) The flap for corded earbuds seems unnecessary since everyone has bluetooth today. It doesn't really get in the way though.
2) The ipad slot in the main compartment is hard to get into when you have a laptop in the bag. Some elastic there might help.

I needed a new bag for my work laptop. I know that this bag might be overkill, but I can hold my laptop, water bottle, a small umbrella, and gym clothes if necessary. Plus, the straps won't fall off my shoulders because it has a chest strap.

Dragging bags to the gym for over 13 years and this is by FAR the best bag I ever used. I got it when it was stil called the mini. This thing takes and absolute beating and hasn't stretched a stich in 1.5 years. I shove way more shit than I probably should should into this thing and it looks as it did the day it shipped. I use the GI bag to store my wet stuff but sometimes I forget too and the bag doesn't smell. It's never been washed. This thing is worth every last penny.
This is an excellent mid sized backpack. It's perfect for day trips into the big city or an overnight stay. Every once in a while I take the train into Toronto, usually leaving again that day or staying one night at most. This bag is perfect for storing essentials for a day trip , usually a hoodie or flannel, keys, wallet, external battery for charging devices, lighter, chapstick, while leaving a bit of room for any purchases made in the city. Its the perfectly sized to not be too bulky on a train or bus but keeps everything organized and easily accessible. My First Datsusara bag, won't be my last!
These bags are great! I got the 28l and use it everyday. Rain or shine this bag is solid. I ride my bike to work in a kitchen in the next town over and this bag let's me do it. Perfect for a day pack. Tons of pockets. I really love the small one on top with soft lining, perfect for tucking my sunglasses when I'm not wearing them. Zippers are solid. Only complaint is there are too many and I often open the wrong one first, especially in the dark. But that's hardly a con. This bag has everything I need and I'm happy to support the hemp industry. I was so impressed by this bag that I just bought my girlfriend the smallest one for her birthday. I let her carry mine for a leg of a day hike we had a couple weeks ago and she commented on how she really liked it. Now we're both BATTLEREADY! Thanks Datsusara!
I'm so glad I purchased my 28l battlepack. I bike to work and needed a small bag to carry my chef clothes and a jacket for late night rides home. This thing is perfect. Plenty of extra pockets for sunglasses, water bottles, ect. The build is great, no defects. I'm thinking of getting my gf one for her birthday this year. We went on a picnic hike and she wore the bag part of the hike and she too liked the feel and fit of the bag. Good work!
I bought one of these bags just under 3 years ago to use for field work, carry a tablet, documents, etc. I was sold, never needed to look for something different. Randomly a stitch in the tablet compartment ripped causing the seem to ultimately tear. I reached out to see if the damage was repairable with intentions of replacing it if not. In less than 24 hours, they got back to me, reviewed the damage, determined it was under warranty, and sent me a new one! Mind you this was on a Sunday! Its not often you find service like that these days. You have a lifetime customer here!
I just wanted to drop you folks a line & let you know how much I LOVE my Battlepack Mini! I love backpacks & have used my previous one for almost 10 years. I needed a replacement badly. My boyfriend has a Battlepack Core & loves it, but it was too big for me & I wasn't sold on the masculine design. After reading tons of reviews & watching all the YouTube videos, I decided to give the mini a shot and my only regret is not buying it sooner. It is the PERFECT size for me (I'm 5'2"), it's durable, fits EVERYTHING - gis, clothes, 15" laptop, ipad, I found a use for every single pocket...I just can't say enough great things about this bag & how much I love it! The full zipper is a game changer!!!! (& thanks to the many places to hang keychains & carabiners, I added my own flair & now it's totally me!) If you've been thinking about getting this bag - DO IT. You won't find a better one anywhere else.

Had this now for about a year. I keep in the car to have an extra set of clothes or whatever extras I need when I'm away from home. Love it the size is great, doesn't take up much space. Has lots of pockets and the new material has a nice feel to it.

I use this bag for my jiu jitsu gear and I love it. It fits two gis + a belt in the main compartment, or a gi + nogi stuff easily. 10/10 Would recommend!
Bought 2 of these for our children when they were in 1st and 3rd grade when the other traditional backpacks were getting torn up before the end of a single school year. The kids are in 4th and 6th now with their bags still looking brand new.
I have been commuting to work using a LA police gear military operator backpack for over a year. It was heavy/clunky but it was able to carry everything I needed for work and jiu jitsu. After over a year I decided I needed something a bit sleeker so I decided to pick up the Battlepack Mini. Right off the bat I noticed this backpack is way lighter than the backpack I was using before, perhaps it's just how comfortable on how it fits.
I can fit:
Main compartment: my gi, square lunch container, laptop, small towel, underwear, rashguard, cup, soap & showering stuff.
Side pocket: foldable water bottle, battery, cable / charger pouch.
Other side pocket: jiu jitsu belt
Front pocket: baseball dad cap, knee pads
Other pockets: sunglasses in case
I have the first version of the bag BPM -01 since 2015 so my review may be dated but I can assure that the quality that you will be getting with these bags is top notch. I've taken my bag for hiking, daily commutes on the train, and travel. It has served my purposes and it continues to be my go to bag. Two years after owning the bag the laptop pocket bottom portion did rip open but some duct tape fixed that issue. This is two years of throwing the bag around and every other backpack I owned ripped open in less then a year.
Now in 2018 everything still works and serves its purpose. Damn this is a good bag!
This is definitely my favorite backpack to carry, particularly for trips where I'm going to have to be pretty mobile. A major plus is the ability to put a water bladder in the bag.
